This is a Bronze statue of the androgynous form of "Shiva", the Hindu God, and his consort Parvati was known as Ardhanarishvara.
Images of this popular iconographic form that is found in most Indian Temples are dated back to the Kushan period starting at the first century CE then perfected in the Gupta era. This God/Goddess is viewed as half male half female to represent the Masculine and Feminine energies of the universe, and both characteristics in the principals of God. It features eight arms which are holding materials that illustrate the male or female attributes.
The statue measures 10.25" tall, 7" wide, and 3" long. Also, the figurine weighs 4lbs.
This beautiful statue is in great pre-displayed condition with a small amount of patina in the crevices.
