|Pair of Dutch Girl and Boy Figurines by HEDI SCHOOP 11" Tall 1940's SIGNED - VTG|
This is a pair of glazed ceramic figures of a Dutch girl and boy created by well-known artist, Hedwig "Hedi" Schoop (1906-1996). Both figures are sign-stamped.
In 1933, Hedi Schoop fled Nazi Germany with her husband, composer Friedrich Hollander, and immigrated to Hollywood, CA where she opened a studio and produced and sold her creations.
Hedi Schoop's Dutch Girl with Apron is 11" tall. This figure has an opening in the apron that can be used as a vase or planter as her skirt is hollow. She does not have any chips or markings and both the color and glazing are in fabulous form.
Hedi Schoop's Dutch Boy is 11" tall. This figure is missing his water pails but this does not take away from his charm. There is a nick on the point of his left clog but otherwise, this is also in wonderful form.
These figures are known to be from the 1940's and sign-stamped "Hedi Schoop, Hollywood CAL."
Both figures are in good pre-owned condition.
